Too Much Cardio – What Happens?

Are you worried about overdoing it and doing too much cardio exercise? Do you think you push yourself too much?

Well one good thing about wondering the answers to these questions is that you seem like a glass half full person or are getting a great workout. While obviously you can do more cardio than you should in one sitting, it can be quite hard to go that far for most.

If you are a healthy fit individual you aren’t going to overexert yourself enough to worry about that unless you are dehydrated or run nonstop full speed until you collapse or something to that extreme.

However, if you are just starting to work out or have pre-existing conditions such as asthma or a heart condition you may want to take it easy. Cardio exercises are great for your body but if you have asthma for example, too much of it can lead to having a hard time breathing. This can especially be true if you don’t work out much. Don’t let that scare you away from working out though. You still can get a great workout you just need to be more observant of your limits. Don’t over exert yourself and you’ll be fine.

If you have a heart condition or other medical condition you should definitely take it easy as well. Because your cardiac muscle is being stressed when doing cardio exercises you should especially be aware of your limits and stop immediately if something is wrong. Good news is some conditions actually may improve if you do cardio exercise.

If you plan on starting a cardio workout or any other intensive workout with a pre-existing condition I highly recommend talking to your doctor before you start it and let him know what you are doing. He will be able to let you know if it is a suitable workout you can handle without causing severe problems.
